The Ultimate Guide to Interview Dressing

Posted by Alexandra Dow on

Your interview outfit is the very first impression that a company will get of you, so it's important to take it seriously and look your best! As women's workwear is growing and becoming more and more modern, there are tons of new options for interview attire. We're here to guide you to the perfect interview outfits for every type of office.

1. In a corporate office

In a corporate office, such as law or finance, it's important to put your most professional foot forward when it comes to interview attire. We suggest going with a classic, dark colored suit for this setting. A classic black or navy suit is an easy option that will show that you're taking the interview seriously and that you're a professional. Pair the suit with a nice button down or blouse and simple heels. And for the warmer months, a dark colored skirt suit would also be perfect for a corporate interview!

2. In a business casual office

When interviewing in an office that has a business casual setting, you have a little more room to dress down and show your personality than in the corporate office. Just remember when choosing your interview outfit that it's better to be over dressed than under dressed!

We think that the perfect attire for this occasion would be a professional blouse paired with dress pants. Bring a blazer with you to either throw over the blouse or take off, depending on how formal or casual you feel the setting is. You can show off your personality in either the blouse or or the pants - add detail to the blouse, like a bow, or wear a pastel colored pair of pants to give your outfit something extra!

Of course, we always suggest wearing a suit to a business casual interview as well. To make it a little more casual, consider wearing a colorful suit like the lavender one shown below.

3. In a creative office

While interviewing in a creative office, such as graphic design or advertising, it's important to show your originality while still being professional for the interview setting. Choosing a colorful or patterned suit is the perfect way to combine originality and professionalism. We suggest going with a color such as dark purple or plum-- they are unique but not bright enough to be distracting. Similarly, a plaid suit is a great option to show off your personality while still being professional.

If a colorful or pattered suit is out of your comfort zone, pair your classic black or navy suit with some fun accessories, such as a statement necklace, to demonstrate your originality!

With this guide, you're now ready to make the best first impression and create the perfect outfit for any interview setting. Go get those jobs, ladies!
